Join us for a FREE screening of Perilous Passage: Birth in America on Saturday, October 3, followed by a live panel discussion on maternal health. Here’s what to expect: 1:00 PM: Check in, grab your free popcorn and drink, and find your seat. 1:20 PM: The film screening begins. 2:00 PM: Live panel discussion featuring maternal health advocates. The panel will feature Christy Turlington Burns, Founder of Every Mother Counts and Executive Producer of the film; Omare Jimmerson, Executive Director of Oklahoma Birth Equity Initiative; and Amy Calhoun-Vasko, Certified Nurse-Midwife and Director of Midwifery Services at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, Oklahoma. The discussion will be hosted by Julia Holeman, Founder and Host of Sisters of Cinema. Together, we’ll explore the maternal health crisis, the stories shared in the film, and the work happening to create change, with a special focus on rural maternal health and its connection to Oklahoma’s maternal health landscape.
